Installation

Corridor of Thoughts (2021)

What is a shelter? Why would one go to a shelter? To protect ourselves from the outside world.

To be able to confront our thoughts away from the outside. To be able to make sense of the world.
It is no coincidence that the hallway where the installation is located is part of our understanding of the piece. Sitting between the kitchen (mundane, the banal, the outside world), the bathroom (where we try to organize our thoughts while washing ourselves) and the art studio (where all those questions, reflections about everyday life, how to project our thoughts into the work. It is in this corridor that metaphorically the ideas of the outside world are being processed and will be concretized into the studio.
Going from the studio to the kitchen also brings another view of the work, unfinished projects are thought and brought back into the world of ideas, the world of the mind.
Walking through the forest/artwork at different pace change our perception of it. Slow, we can contemplate and find shapes and ideas into the chaos of the lines. Faster, the papers will lift and rustle, only imprinting on the participant the sounds of the shapes and ideas that are scattered across the work.
It is interesting to let this installation up for a long period. To see what will stick and what will fall. Will the shapes be installed at their place of origin, or will they have moved to another location? Making themselves more visible or hidden, or left there on the floor?
